Pokemon ORAS
Hey guys. I am gonna do my take on Pokemon Unite and put out what is going on with it, and what I think about it. I see a lot of negative feedback, so I’ll address a couple of sides of this situation.
Well, last week, we got Pokemon Presentation that has more than one thing, and it covers Cafe Mix, New Snap, Sword and Shield Isle of Armor that came out the exact day, and new things about sleep and home. Last week has a lot of content on it, and they then say next week is a big announcement. It will make it seem like it’s worth seeing since the first presentation was a good one due to its content.
When I saw the recent presentation, it was just Pokemon Unite on the entire presentation, and people seem to be disappointed of it. First off, I don’t hate it and just thought it was just a League of Legend reskin to Pokemon that is on Switch and Mobile. We will be breaking down to each problems. I will put the good, the bad, and what they could’ve done to be neutral to the situation.
First problem is the marketing and what the last Pokemon Presentation said about the next presentation on the following week that it will be a big announcement. Well, if they say it’s gonna be a big announcement, it will make people have high expectations like wanting a johto or sinnoh remake. You’re pretty much giving it more hype by saying. So, I only saw the recent presentation with no expectations, because I didn’t want them to make any remakes to begin with since Let’s Go Games cost them development time on Sword and Shield, that brought up #BringBackNationalDex situation as well as being really rushed for the holidays with less effort on animation and graphics that I saw from DistantKingdom. I wanted games to be developed well and not disappoint people that last year’s problem has. At the same time, I never really have high expectations on most panels since they always come unexpected, so the presentation didn’t anger me or anything. I just thought if the game was really worth a big presentation. Mobile and Free to Play games aren’t really a big announcement since they are just small games, but what is would be something that is exclusive on game consoles as a paid game. I do think they could’ve included the game on last week’s presentation to have at least a bit longer presentation that is with all its games being announced. That way, it would’ve been more neutral and people would be like “Okay…A Pokemon MOBA game.” instead of “THAT’S A BIG ANNOUNCEMENT?! A POKEMON MOBA GAME?”. You can see the attitude change, if they either include that game on last week’s presentation or swap it with Pokemon New Snap since it’s an iconic game, and if New Snap was covering the whole presentation from Wednesday, it would’ve been a deal breaker. People would be more happy and it should include gameplay for a little bit. I think they should’ve present Unite better. Also, a presentation should have at least two things, with a little bit of showing off merch and stuff. I know Diablo has that problem two years ago because it was marketed as a big announcement for a PC franchise and it turned to be a mobile free to play game, and it was booed on the panel and blizzard people has some attitude on the fans, especially since there was no new Diablo game for a long time. With Pokemon Unite, it wasn’t as worse since I don’t every gaming news overreacting to its feedback, so the drama is pretty smaller than Diablo’s situation.
The second problem of Pokemon Unite was it was made by Tencent, a Chinese company who makes free to play mobile games. People do not like that company and I’ll explain why based on my research. Tencent is a level of EA, aka Electronic Arts. As we should know, EA is a very greedy company that is unfriendly with its consumers, and fill their games with microtransactions and trying to get more money from people. The best example of a game that has this problem was Star Wars Battlefront 2 when it came out, and it has microtransactions that let’s players become stronger when paying powerups so it’s a pay to win kind of thing. Also, you have to pay for characters to get it instantly, as you would have to grind for too many hours otherwise. There is also a game from EA called Star Wars Galaxy of Heroes, a free to play Mobile game. It was heavily forced to pay microtransaction to progress the game much quicker, and it recently banned a player for reporting that there are hackers, and they ignored him and thought he was breaking their TOS. EA is a very shady company. So with Tencent, they’re almost the same level as EA, so that is pretty much the reason why people don’t like Tencent. They do stuffs like this too as far as I heard. I don’t really play those type of games because I don’t like when they decide to make free to play games that heavily relies on Microtransaction that really impacts the enjoyment of a game, but as for Pokemon Unite, we haven’t seen more information yet besides the gameplay. I wouldn’t expect it to be as much fun since I gathered information about Tencent.
[Edit 9/22: Well, right after I post this, people told me more about Tencent. They’re worse than EA, because they have huge connections with Chinese government, and they can control and see people’s data and such, as well as censorship, so they have much more government control, and they own so many things, moreso than Disney and Microsoft. Well, it was announced a year prior that Tencent would work on a Pokemon game, but SwSh not having dex was taking over, since it was a main game. With a poor presentation, it’s theorized that Tencent paid the Pokemon Company to have their own presentation for the game, or that TPC decided to do that, but more on the former. Still, it wouldn’t get as much backlash if it was included on the presentation a week before with the other games.]
As a concept, it looks decent. The models and its gameplay looks fine. I thought it would be all right on itself. MOBA games are really big in China and any mobile games there. They barely play console games since most consoles haven’t sold there until the PS4 era, but everyone has phones so they can play games anywhere. It may be all right, but I wouldn’t expect much. If you do want to play a new Pokemon free to play game, tryout Pokemon Cafe Mix. It’s a lot more fun and its microtransactions are completely optional, and you an play the game without internet/mobile connection. Cafe Mix came out few days ago and it looks addicting. It’s on Mobile and Switch.
So, do I think the fans have the right to be disappointed by the game, or are they really toxic? Well, I do think they were expecting the panel too highly because they said this presentation was gonna be big, but it isn’t. I suggest not to make things clickbaity, and be more honest about it. Since I learned about Tencent, it isn’t that surprising. [Also, I know they’re people who will have high expectations for the remakes and such, but they should remind themselves that Tencent made an announcement a year prior.] However, I don’t think they should go after people that work on those games, or have a divide on a fandom of a particular game, because I don’t want a split fandom. I had that problem with The Last Jedi and its problems (TLJ is much worse than this, believe me). [Yes, even with all the problems with Sword and Shield, Let’s Go games, and recently Unite, I believe almost every fandom I’ve been in had toxic sides that will react, and it is the companies fault for creating a mess of this hype and announcement. I didn’t feel ashamed enough with the Pokemon situations, unlike Star Wars, which was fueled by PC culture left and right since TLJ came out, and the fandom was worse. I am not doubting that Pokemon fandom, like most fandoms, have their bad sides, and we’re living in a social media era for over a decade. I never take part of any hashtags for protest, since I was BBND taking things too far to others on Twitter, and JusticeForChloeB was another one. I’ve seen things gets worse since mid 2010s because of stuffs like Twitter and shifts with game companies deciding things like Pokemon Unite, Star Wars Battlefront 2, or Diablo Immortal in this era that creates backlash due to companies decisions.] Overall, Pokemon Unite could’ve been presented better and the company who made it should try to avoid mistakes EA has made on their records. I personally don’t play MOBA games or a couple of free to plays, so I am pretty much more neutral to Pokemon Unite itself. Still better than Sony’s recent game, TLoU2. The beginning had a meaningful description of Pokemon fans, but I think it should’ve been with last week’s presentation to have more neutral reaction. I’m glad it got sorta calm a few days after it. If you got information, you can comment.
My next take will be on Miraculous Ladybug Season 3, and my next video should be out nearly next week. Have a good night.
Chapter 93
During the weekend, Yuki, Minoru, and Ryo are watching a movie in a theater. They came out from the building, with concerned look.
Yuki: The movie was…underwhelming.
Minoru: Yeah. It didn’t seem as likable as it was marketed.
Ryo: I don’t expect to see our favorite character acting like a loser and squirting liquid.
Minoru: That is gross.
Yuki: It is, but the movie has a lot of problems.
Minoru: Yeah. So, we’re heading to a food court?
Yuki: Yes. We still have couple of time. We can go to the arcade after eating.
They went to the food court, and Yuki and Ryo brought trays of food.
Ryo: Lunch is served!
Minoru: They look nice.
Yuki: Yep. All for us.
Later during lunch, Ryo and Yuki are talking to Minoru about a plan.
Ryo: Minoru. Me and Yuki are thinking about a big vacation for new years.
Minoru: Sounds nice.
Yuki: We want to invite you and maybe your sister to our vacation to Hawaii hotel.
Minoru: Really?! Hawaii?
Yuki: Yep. Me and Ryo got enough money for a four day vacation.
Minoru: Well, my family don’t have plans, but I don’t know if they would let me.
Yuki: Just ask them, and tell your sister. That way, you will have your family to be on our vacation to share a room.
Minoru: Sounds more safe for my parents to let us go there.
Ryo: Good. Let us know by next weekend.
Minoru: No problem. I think Ayano will be happy to be on a resort.
The next day, Minoru talks with his parents on the table during breakfast.
Mom: Hawaii? Hmm…
Dad: Have they reserved it yet?
Minoru: Not until next weekend. Me and Ayano can have fun with them during new years. What do you think?
Dad: They made a smart decision to invite Ayano to share a room.
Mom: Yeah, but we are planning to go to Aunt Irina’s place. I know you got big problems there, so I’ll let you two go there. Ayano, you want to go?
Ayano: Yes! We are gonna have a lot of fun together!
Minoru: Awesome! Just the four of us!
Ayano: I would like to see Yuki do cool tricks and play with us!
Minoru: Me to. Thanks for letting us.
Dad: Well, you are pretty responsible and Yuki shows deep care to us.
Minoru: I’m glad you both see Yuki’s care.
The next day at school, Minoru talks to Yuki at the front gate.
Minoru: They are planning to go to Aunt Irina’s house for new years.
Yuki: Oh. Well, you are better off coming with us than there, because of last time we went there.
Minoru: Yeah…I’m glad my parents approved your vacation plan.
Yuki: Me to. We are gonna have a wonderful day. Sure, I will miss Comiket, but going to a special vacation is another big activity.
Minoru: It is.
Yuki: So, there are gonna be a lot of activities there we can do. The big pool, the beach, the arcades, souvenirs, and attractions.
Minoru: Sounds like a big vacation for us.
Yuki: Yeah.
Many days later, they went to the airplane and flies to Hawaii and arrive to the hotel.
Yuki: Wow! This place looks awesome!
Minoru: I know! This resort has a lot of activities on our list!
They went to the recipient.
Ryo: We would like to rent two rooms for four days.
Lady: Sure!
They got the keys and a wrist ticket.
Later, they open up the the hotel room and they went in.
Minoru: Wow!
Ayano: Cool! It’s for both of us!
Yuki: Yep.
Minoru: Two big beds.
Ayano: That’s awesome!
Ryo: Well, here are the keys.
Minoru: Thanks.
Yuki and Ryo went to theirs.
Yuki: Nice. Just like their room, except mirrored.
Ryo: Yeah.
Yuki: And now it’s time for the pool!
Ryo: Yep. Our first thing to do!
Later, Minoru and Ayano are already in the pool. They see Yuki and Ryo coming.
Yuki: I see them!
Ryo: Me to.
Yuki jumps to the pool.
Yuki: Hey Minoru.
Minoru: Wow. Hi.
Yuki: Thanks for waiting.
Minoru: We just got in.
Yuki: Well, we got ready quick.
They both swim around and Ayano comes to Minoru.
Ayano: Minoru. Wanna go to the jazuzzi? It’s near here.
Minoru: Okay.
They went to the jazuzzi.
Ayano: It feels relaxing.
Minoru: It does.
Yuki: I really like how it’s pretty warm here.
Minoru: Me to.
Ryo: It’s pretty sweet.
Later, they went to the deep pool, and they all want to jump.
Yuki: Minoru, want to jump first?
Minoru: Ok.
He jumps and swims up.
Minoru: It is nice here.
Ayano: Cool.
She then jumps in the pool and swims up.
Ayano: You’re right.
Both Ryo and Yuki jumps high and goes inside the water with big splash.
Ayano: Wow… That was a big splash.
Minoru: Yep. Both of them really know how to make a big splash.
Yuki and Ryo comes out from the water.
Yuki: You both like what you see?
Minoru: Yep You both made a big splash at the same time.
Ayano: Oh yes! It was amazing!
Yuki: Glad you liked it. Now we are gonna play a couple of games together.
Both play swim race, Marco polo, and catch.
Yuki throws a toy to Ayano. She caught it.
Ayano: Catch!
She then throws it to Minoru.
Minoru catches it too.
Minoru: Catch!
He throws it to Yuki. She caught it.
Yuki: Catch!
Later, Yuki and Ryo are talking inside the pool.
Yuki: We swim all over the pool and it’s a well structured resort.
Ryo: Yep.
Yuki: So, what other places do you want to take a look at?
Ryo: I do want to visit some attractions. They also have golf, tennis park, basketball, football, arcades, and game room.
Yuki: We are probably gonna be at most of those places.
Ryo: Yep.
They see Minoru and Ayano coming with small popcorn.
Ayano: They got popcorn. It taste good. Barely any salt or butter, so it’s good.
Yuki: Cool.
Minoru: They got other things inside the snack area.
Ryo: Cool. Well, there’s a food court and it’s a buffet. We can pick on any food we like to eat, and it’s serving food in a few hours.
Minoru: Awesome! I would like to see what’s inside.
Yuki: There’s also a couple of places we would like to take a look at. They got the arcade and game room.
Minoru: Cool. That means we can play games with each other.
Ayano: I would like to go there.
Yuki: After the food court, we are planning to look around the resort.
Minoru: Sounds good.
Ayano: I wanna take a look at the beach that’s near here.
Ryo: We will. It’s only good for a walk, because the beach has a lot of rocks on the sand.
Minoru: Hmm. I see.
Yuki: And the waves aren’t that big. It looks nice, but the resort’s beach isn’t much like most beaches.
Minoru: I see. For the rock, we can throw rocks at the ocean to have it jump above the surface.
Ryo: You just give us an idea.
Yuki: Yep. We will definitely try it out.
Minoru: All right.
Ayano: The popcorn bag is empty. I’m going back in the water.
Minoru: Okay.
Ayano went to throw the bag away and came back with a splash.
Minoru went inside the pool.
Yuki: Wanna play catch with my toy?
Minoru: Sure.
They continue to play catch on the pool.
Later, all four of them went inside the food court with their normal clothes.
Yuki: Wow. The place is big, and they have all the foods on the buffet area.
Minoru: They look delicious.
They begin taking a plate and grab some food.
After they got all the food they pick, they sit at the table together.
Minoru: It has a lot of great food.
The waiter comes.
Waiter: Hello guys. I am gonna serve drinks and napkins to your table. What do you guys want?
They tell him the drinks they want.
Waiter: Okay. It will arrive in a few minutes.
He left.
Ayano: This place is amazing.
Yuki: You bet.
Ryo: And they are also serving dessert, like ice cream.
Minoru: That’s nice.
They all eat their foods and desserts. Later, they left the food court and explore around the resort. They went to the beach first.
Yuki: This looks fine.
Ayano: Yes. The beach is more flat.
Minoru: That means the waves here are very light.
Yuki: Let’s throw some rocks.
They all went by the water and pick up the rocks.
Yuki toss a rock on the ocean and it bounce seven times.
Minoru toss a rock and it bounces four times.
Ryo tosses and it bounce six times.
Ayano toss a small rock and it bounce five times.
Ayano: I got five.
Minoru: Cool.
Yuki Now I’m gonna do another throw.
She tosses another rock and bounces nine times.
Minoru: Wow!
Ryo: That is awesome!
They continue to toss rocks, and later, they went to the pine tree area to see animals around.
Ayano: They all look cute!
Yuki: They sure do.
Minoru: Well, the coconuts up there looks big.
Yuki: I want to drink coconut juice here.
Ryo: Look at the grass. There’s lizards walking.
Yuki: Cool!
Ayano: Uhh…
Minoru: They are walking slowly.
Ayano: Yeah, but they kinda look creepy.
Yuki: They don’t touch people. Not here. They like to walk in grass, and they run fast if they see humans close by.
Ayano: Oh. Okay.
They went to the game room.
Ayano: They have the wii! Let’s play!
They all play Mario Kart.
Yuki: I got the giant mushroom!
Ryo: Lucky.
Minoru: Well, I got the star!
Ayano: I like baby Rosalina.
Ryo: Guys! I got three bananas!
Ayano: Try and see if you can catch me!
Yuki: Now back to normal size!
Minoru: We’re on final lap.
Ryo: Let’s see who comes in first place!
Yuki: Maybe It would be me.
Ayano: I got mushrooms!
Minoru: I got red shells!
Yuki: Try and catch up!
Yuki is close to the finish line, but Minoru speed himself so he comes in first place, followed by Yuki, Ryo, and Ayano.
Minoru: I got first place!
Yuki: Good job, you guys!
Ayano: I may be in fourth place, but we were more together, racing the finish line.
Ryo: GG!
Later, they went to the stage show at night, watching hula dancing and fire tricks.
Minoru: Wow! they really put huge effort in making a show here.
Ryo: Yep.
Yuki: Oh yeah! Fire tricks are really tricky. I could only do performing tricks in gym class.
Minoru: Yeah.
Ayano: Not only that, but the music sounds very unique.
Minoru: You’re right.
Later, they went to their hotel room, and Minoru and Ayano are about to sleep.
Ayano: This was fun!
Minoru: It is. Tomorrow is gonna be exciting.
Ayano: On New Year’s Eve, it will!
At Yuki and Ryo’s room, they are laying down on a separate bed.
Yuki: Today was fun.
Ryo: It was.
Yuki: I can’t wait to go out with Minoru on our date. It won’t be during the New Year celebration though.
Ryo: Sounds cool.
Yuki: I booked to a special restaurant near here. It’s really special.
Ryo: Sounds fun.
Yuki: It will be a good date. Good night.
Ryo: Good night.
They all sleep.
The next day, they are at the pool, and Yuki and them are playing Marco Polo.
Minoru: Marco!
Yuki and Ayano: Polo!
Minoru turns around and caught Ayano.
Minoru: Got you, sister.
Ayano: Hahaha.
Minoru: Marco!
Yuki: Polo!
Minoru tries going after Yuki without his eyes open. He hears Yuki swimming away.
Minoru: Marco!
Yuki: Polo!
He turns around and caught Yuki.
Minoru: Got you!
Yuki: Nice!
Minoru: So, the date is gonna be at 18?
Yuki: It would be around that time. It would last two or three hours.
Ayano: Well, what should I do when you both are gone?
Minoru: Ever heard of the water park area? You could spend time playing there.
Ayano: Yeah, but it would get dark later on.
Yuki: You could visit the buffet if you want to eat food. If you got time to spare, go to the arcades if you want to.
Ayano: Okay. Sounds good.
Yuki smiles.
Yuki: It will be the best time of our vacation, Minoru.
Minoru: Yep. Definitely can’t want for it.
Later, Yuki and Minoru walk by the curb, heading to the restaurant.
Yuki: Wow! This looks wonderful than what I saw on their website.
Minoru: You’re right! Wow!
They went inside.
Minoru: Everything looks unbelievable!
Yuki: Yup!
Minoru: The theme here is very interesting.
Yuki: I’m glad I found this when we were booking for this vacation.
They look around.
Minoru: They have a long list of foods!
Yuki: Exactly!
They ordered their food and are carrying their food.
Yuki: I got something special. I booked us a private balcony.
Minoru: Wow! That’s amazing.
They went to the balcony they booked. It’s just a balcony reserved privately with just Yuki and Minoru and the door is shut.
Yuki: This is really interesting!
They put the foods on the table.
Minoru: Yep. We see the ocean far away and sunset has begun.
Yuki: Oh yes.
They start eating their food, and later, they finished it.
Yuki: What a nice dinner.
Minoru: They are tasty!
Yuki: It’s a really great restaurant.
She lets out a big burp for a few seconds.
Minoru: Wow! That was a nice one.
Yuki: I got talents for belching, and also the south.
Minoru: Interesting.
Yuki: This vacation was both me and Ryo’s idea. He wanted to take a vacation here again and so was I. We went here few years ago as a family. It was very fun.
Minoru: Cool. That explains why you know about this restaurant.
Yuki: I came here without a balcony reservation. I know about this private area when I came in. This time, I wanted to get that chance for our date.
Minoru: That’s sweet.
Yuki: Especially on our New Years.
Minoru: You’re right. So, I want to ask you a question.
Yuki: Okay.
Minoru: What made you be really noble? I see you wanting to protect others and me.
Yuki: Because I like my friends. They make me happy. I don’t any of you get in trouble in anyway, so I wanted to help you guys.
Minoru: Okay, and what were you like during your childhood in those scenarios?
Yuki: When I see them in trouble, I take risk on helping them. I was a troublemaker so I would goof off in class to get the class enjoy school without just long talks. I had gone to a few fights before in grade school to help the other kids. I just wanted to give those people a chance to be treated better. That’s what I was feeling with you before we spoke each other for the first time.
Minoru: I see you love hanging with other people. I was feeling in love because of your skills and a nice girl.
Yuki: I know you are into my tomboyishness too. That’s kinda cute.
Minoru: I was really into about what you do. I am surprised that you are a nice popular girl during sophomore when I heard about you.
Yuki: Doing cool stuff, helping out others, and performing is really what I am. Oh, I got into geek culture since the middle of grade school when I watch more anime and games and stuff. I like to be both a geek and a cool performer.
Minoru: Those two things mix together really well.
Yuki: Well, thanks.
She stands up.
Yuki: You are really special too. I really plan this vacation for you so we can experience this vacation together.
Minoru: That’s really nice.
Yuki: It was our chance, and that’s why I asked, and also have fun with your sister too.
Minoru: You are so great!
He stands up.
Minoru: You plan things pretty good. How sweet!
Yuki: You want to kiss?
Minoru: Sure.
They both hold each other, and kiss.
They kiss for half a minute.
Yuki: (kiss) That was wonderful!
Minoru: Yup!
They both still hug each other.
Minoru decides to give a playful smack on Yuki’s butt.
Yuki blinks, and then grins.
Yuki: I’m guessing you’re having fun with that.
Minoru: Hehe. I’m just playing around.
Yuki: How cute.
They both start collecting their trays and leave the private balcony.
Later, they went to the beach on almost midnight with their pals.
Ryo: So many people are here to celebrate. This is wonderful.
Yuki: It is.
Ayano: We got few minutes left before 2018.
Minoru: Yeah.
He looks at Yuki.
Minoru: So, how was this year for you?
Yuki: Pretty good. I had fun with you guys just like last year.
Minoru: Me to. It got better since you came to our lives.
Yuki: You bet.
Ayano: This is gonna be our best vacation of our lives.
Ryo: You’re right.
They see the countdown.
Ryo: Hey guys. We got a minute left!
Yuki: Nice.
Minoru: Yuki. What do you want to do in 2018?
Yuki: Well, big things. I want to accomplish more goals, and do something big, even our relationship.
Minoru: Me to! All of what you said.
Yuki: Hehe. We are really made for each other.
Minoru: Yep! Not only that, but we graduate high school at the end of March.
Yuki: You’re right! We got three months left. It will be a happy moment for us!
Minoru: And for all of our friends!
Ryo: Here it comes!

Ayano: Ryo, what is your girlfriend doing?
Ryo: She’s at Tokyo celebrating with her family!
Ayano: Okay. Cool
They see Yuki and Minoru kissing.
Ryo: What do you think about the two?
Ayano: They both are doing good with each other. They both make me happy because they like playing games with me. I’m sure their relationship will continue to grow stronger this year.
Ryo: I’m thinking the same thing.
They continue to celebrate.
Next Chapter: Beauty Pageant
Team Phase set up a beauty pageant to help out charity. They set up a school event after school for everyone to see. However, Yuki decides to join in on being the contestant. How will the event go? Tune in next time!
[MMD] Yuki’s First Day of Summer
Today is the first day of summer, and Yuki is really having fun.
She is ready to take a pic with her bikini for appeal. Wow, she really
looks attractive! Yuki really loves having fun during summer who likes
playing many types of games.
Made Yuki from Vroid Studio. Used N3+C shader.
[MMD] Self test and Shader Test
I’ve been testing out shaders for a week to see how it fits. Previously as seen on Randomness 10, I used PowerShader v3.2. Now I’ve been checking out N3+C (guessing NCHLShader3) to see the results. I find it easier to work with since I have more ability to control a couple of assests.
NCHLShader2 was kinda difficult because it would make models have a very rough shade if they use sphere texture, and trying to get all models on my folder to not use sphere texture would take huge time, and would remove intended effect for the model.
I mentioned Raycast a while back, and I decide to test this area with it again. It has problems as mentioned, texture transparency gets degraded, skybox and its effects are complicated, and temporal aliasing. It’s a reason why I won’t be using Raycast for quite long.
N3+C really rivals with Raycast, not PowerShader in my opinion. N3+C has bump mapping and has shaders for clothes and other objects. The bonus of it is it uses full texture transparency, internal anti-aliasing with RGSSAA or SGSSAA from graphic drivers, blends better with other MME effects, and contains its own effects too.
The last part is really a
big news. I made a model of myself by using Desperative’s Trainer Kit
1.32 (1.33 as of this writing). I originally used Victor’s existing
model from other user, and used it for my icon, but later, I found the
person’s trainer kit and redo my self model. It turned out pretty well.
Although I would have to make couple of variations without morphs to get
rid of the bag so no shader would affect an invisible bag.
I am doing another open auditions for my Miraculous Ladybug MMD videos. I know I made a post back at November, but I haven’t got enough people yet. I only got Juleka Couffaine by DazzilngGirl16, but I wanna make sure I got more people interested to do a redub for my existing and upcoming MMD Ladybug videos.
[MMD Pokemon] Randomness 10 Anniversary Edition
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b13dmVMvZTk
It’s the moment you’ve waiting for! New Randomness with Sword and
Shield characters being used. Not only that, it’s an anniversary special
for my channel. I got a lot of work being done to this randomness and
give shoutouts to certain channels. Now enjoy the new randomness with
twenty clips.
I don’t use Raycast since I have trouble with it recently, so I use PowerShader v3.2 with other shaders being applied.
At

I am bringing a changed decision about my MMD videos and for my upcoming Randomness 10. The shader tests above are showing you what problems I have when using Raycast (or RayMMD) and telling you guys why I am gonna lay off Raycast for now.
As you guys see, I use Arisumatio’s Gloria model and already did all the bones and motions and everything. However, Gloria’s hair and accessories are gray and white by default. You can use morph to change the colors, but Raycast so far doesn’t work with morphed colors at all, as you see above. While I discuss about Raycast, I will also discuss about HDR10.
First off, Raycast is an advanced shader engine that is been around for last few years, and it can make things look great. Despite that, there are couple of problems.
Raycast has issues with colored morphs as mentioned. I’ve seen certain models that has a morph that can be a complete black, by turning all of it’s color to a one color. However, Raycast does not work with colored morphs unless if the material was already colored on its texture or ambient. I could replace a model that is precolored by textures, but I don’t have time to rework with bones or edit all textures for all models, even if I decide to change their colors to make a different person on their hair, clothes, or skin color. Not to mention, Raycast ignores toon texture, so some skin may look desaturated.
Transparency Texture issue. I’ve seen stages where it has transparent particles, as above. However, Raycast seem to have weird issues with transparent textures where it loses transparency information and can make things blocky, as seen above. It can not blend well to the background and will look often blocky and more flat. I’ve tried Main_alpha on the objects, and it either doesn’t work, or gives me worse results. Last, certain textures receives banding, so it doesn’t treat certain texture formats well. Stages with low amount of transparancy textures can look really great, but stages with a couple of transparent textures around can make it look worse than without raycast applied to the scene.
Computer usage and less optimization. I know some bring up that MMD is not as optimized for performance, but Raycast seems to take a larget hit. It’s understandable that it’s really advanced and have couple of shaders applied with SSAO and Materials. I do have Ryzen 3600 and RX 570 8GB, but it does still show how much usage the CPU and GPU and RAM use, especially when aiming at 4K. I got RX 570 8GB to do 4K videos with Raycast, and it served well. 2GB card can do fine at 1440p, but not anything higher. I’ve seen heavy scenes in MMD where it uses a bit more than 4GB VRAM at 4K, even lowering shadow textures. The highest shadow texture has a big hit and touches almost 8GB on big scenes, and I’ve seen other shaders that handles those scenes decently. Despite my setup, I know I can’t work with Raycast outside of my Desktop if aiming at anything higher than 1080p. Even using different kind of shaders or shader engine can use a somewhat less usage and memory.
Antialiasing doesn’t work well, only post AA. I’ve made post of my antialiasing methods last year or two to make better quality rendering. Since Raycast uses a different kind of rendering, the MMD’s AA does not work at all. FXAA is my only option, but SMAA on any level gives me spikes on some edges. Temporal aliasing does show more by seeing small lines popping and disconnected lines and none of the post AA shaders have temporal antialiasing implemented, like modern DOOM 2016 and Doom Eternal. It looks worse in motion on 1080p and 720p, but 4K minimizes temporal aliasing decently. It really shows when switching to Raycast and you see jagged lines still and disconnections on static motion. 4K looks good enough to reduce it, but I know, like above statement, 4K only works fine on at least 4GB cards.
I would include how long it takes to set up Raycast, but a lot of 3D model programs would take time, unless if you see a recommended preset. Setting it up isn’t that big of a deal, but it does take a while when resizing the window or loading the scene. Also, I haven’t had enthusiast experience with it, so I don’t have a lot of time to research all of it. Even if I tried to fix some errors stated above, it would take more time and testing on post production to see what works best. You would have to test each material shaders. Last minor thing is some effects may not blend well like fire and thunder. My Champion Iris video from April got transparency issue from Raycast on those effects, so it looks glitched. I can’t seem to fix it at any way without making it invisible.
So what do I use now? I’m happy with PowerShader v3.2 and it retains the colors of the models better than raycast, even not doing HDR10 or use linear tonemapping. I tried GShader v1.10 at first, but LearnMMD has an article about PowerShader and says it’s competitive with Raycast and that it’s easier to use and have other effects blend the scene better. I know Raycast is experimental, but I’ve just uploaded a video about Konata’s birthday, and Raycast looks really dull. This time, I don’t use my HDR10 method, and while it looks decent, it’s kinda disappointing. I wanted to have a constant color gradient and less clipping on colors, but it’s really a hassle and too time consuming. PowerShader seems to save more time and more simple to use. I know, materials with bump mapping and reflection gloss will be missing, but there are other shader effects that can perform similarly. AutoLuminous does its job really well, and Hg_SAO and ExcellentShadows2 do too, so I’m more happy to use them. Also, colored morphs works so I get to keep Victor and Gloria models on the scene without a struggle.
Now let’s discuss about HDR10 and why I’m deciding not to do more HDR10 content. This was a decision, even before I decide to leave Raycast as Konata’s Birthday video was uploaded. My HDR10 Method is only through Raycast. HDR10 is more complicated process than Raycast itself, so the rest will sound complicated.
HDR10 is a lot of work. More work than working with SDR content directly. It’s a long process and I have to edit from Sony Vegas and use white text to use 75% of white to not be too bright on displays with over 1000 nits. HDR10 can look good, but editing it and wanting to add pictures over it can be a hassle. Also, I have to use scripts and commandline and x265 pipe to do a single HDR. Not only that, it takes longer to render on HEVC 4K 10bit HDR than HEVC 4K SDR. It’s hard to keep full range to x265 so banding is introduced a bit unless if you want the process to be slower to convert to 16bit from Avisynth+. I also have to use BT.2020 colorspace directly to not have colors process poorly. Last, only Avisynth script can do proper HDR tonemapping to SDR. Handbrake doesn’t do tonemapping yet and I do want to play the video on my mobile device that doesn’t decode HEVC well or do HDR Tonemapping. It’s a long process overall.
Making HDR content is a challenge to make it pop well. My methods has improved, admittedly, from Iris goes to Court to Champion Iris video. However, having really bright objects doesn’t seem to be that bright to see HDR10 like popping experience. It’s kinda challenging to try to pull off really bright effects for HDR. It could be because our HDR TV doesn’t go over 400 nits as the minimum standard to see better HDR experience. I’ve tried going from 300 nits average to 200 nits average, and I couldn’t say if I allowed more bright scenes to shine. The tonemapping besides Linear and Reinhard, it desaturates and color shifts too heavily for SDR. I use Hable to fit better for HDR10 method. The desaturation and colorshifts are reduced, but I still see it on some parts of beight objects. The brightest device I could find is my tablet, which is almost 400 nits, but it performs poorly with HDR, even to 1080p 30FPS h264. I don’t really have all the tools to do proper experiment by using HDR bright display to test the settings like what most movie studios do. Maybe the developer of Raycast can experiment HDR10 and make a tonemapping for it.
Many people don’t make HDR videos currently and many other video sharing websites don’t output HDR10. I feel like many people have one or two 4K HDR TVs on their houses, and I know Youtube tonemaps the videos to SDR. Youtube’s tomemapping makes very dark spots a little gray. My Miraculous Ladybug Alternative video doesn’t look great, and that was when my HDR10 method was experimental. There’s not many video editors where you can directly edit in HDR, and it isn’t user friendly to test HDR yet so it is the reason why many uploaders don’t work with HDR. Making 3D HDR is a rare thing to do currently, and since it’s a complicated process, it’s not simple enough to have more people make HDR10 content. I realize certain video editors have HDR10 mode, but they are really expensive and not really affordable to mass media.
I do like HDR10 movies and videos, but three things above are the reasons why I wanted to pause my HDR video habits to make it easier to edit my videos and publish it. I’m gonna retire it for now, but I’ll share my methods below if you guys want to test it and do a hard work for it or if you decide to share it to others.
Raycast: Hable Tonemapping, Exposure+=0.0, Exposure-=0.7 (200 nits Average Frame) or 0.61 (300 nits Average Frame), Contrast+=0.0, and Contrast-=0.9. Used cLUT shader from BowlRoll and made rec.2020 LUT Texture for HDR10. Average Frame nits=200 or 300 by Exposure settings above, max frame nits=1000, on x265 command line.
I just want to make my editing easier and more simple. My next experiment is gonna be easier and worth doing. I plan to show how to get MMD working on Linux via Wine and PMXEditor and MMEffect. It’s a way to have MMD working on other OSes and it’s really usable.
Edit 06/03: I also tested N3+C. While it doesn’t work with colored morphing, it doesn’t affect texture transparency, so it’s still a lot better than Raycast. N3+C allows native antialiasing and shadows looks better without worrying about VRAM usage on really high details. N3+C does have a few drawbacks, like colored morphs, but it seems to be generally stable, and allows bump mapping so it can be used on clothes. Lighting would have to take a little work when you first try it, but it looks really good.
[MMD] Yuki’s Night Hangout 2
I decide to show the back side of Yuki to show how it looks behind.Yuki
takes another photo of herself to show how awesome she looks. Yuki
appears to have an hourglass figure so she decides to show her behind
for appeal. Nice! Yuki looks all around attractive!

[MMD] Yuki’s Night Hangout 1
Yuki is pretty happy to hang with Minoru for the night. She decides
to take photos of herself in the park. She decides to wear her red
dress to hang out on a park at night for photoshoots to upload on social
media to gain appeals to her fans.
From the
last photo, Yuki really looks good on a red tight dress. Yuki doesn’t
have interest in fashion due to her tomboyish nature, so she picks a
simple red dress as her easy way to find a dress, and yet, she seems to
look very hot with it and she knows it.
